Designer Wallpaper in the Gulf: Elie Saab and Lamborghini Collections

Elie Saab wallpaper occupies an unusual position in the Gulf market: it is one of the few wallcovering ranges that clients ask for by name before they have seen a single sample. That happens because the name already means something here. Couture houses and automotive houses have both learned to translate their signatures onto walls, and the two collections we are asked about most — Elie Saab Maison and Automobili Lamborghini — are the clearest examples of it. This guide looks at what these designer ranges actually offer a specifier, where they belong in a scheme, and how to buy them sensibly for a villa, a hotel or a showroom.

Why designer wallpaper travels so well in the Gulf

Three regional habits explain the demand. Villas here are generously proportioned, so a wall can carry a large motif without the room closing in. Entertaining space is formal — a majlis or a reception salon is designed to be seen, and a signature wall does more work there than any amount of furniture. And the market is brand-literate: a client who recognises a couture house on a dress recognises the same hand on a wall, which shortens the conversation considerably.

What designer collections are not is a shortcut. They are strongest when the rest of the scheme is disciplined. One statement wall, quiet plains around it, and restrained joinery will outperform a room where three luxury references compete.

Elie Saab wallpaper: couture logic on a wall

The Elie Saab Maison collection, produced under licence by Zambaiti Parati, does something interesting: it borrows construction techniques from dressmaking rather than motifs from fashion. You see pleating and fan-shaped drapery in relief, lace-derived geometry, beaded and embroidered effects, and marbled panels in the softly dramatic palette the house is known for — blush, champagne, powder blue, gold and pearl greys.

In practice, Elie Saab wallpaper divides into two useful halves. The plainer relief designs — the fan and pleat textures in neutral tones — behave almost like a sophisticated plain, and can run across a whole room without becoming exhausting. The murals are the opposite: a single panoramic wall, usually behind a bed, a dining table or a reception desk, treated as artwork. Mixing the two within one room is the most reliable way to use the collection well.

Automobili Lamborghini: precision, metal and shadow

The Lamborghini collection reads completely differently. Where the couture range is soft, this one is engineered — hexagon reliefs, carbon-inspired weaves, faceted geometry, brushed metal effects and deep marble swirls in charcoal, teal, bronze and off-white. It suits masculine studies, gyms, home cinemas, car showrooms and corporate reception areas far better than bedrooms.

Two practical notes. First, the metallic and high-relief designs need good raking light to be worth the money; under flat ceiling lighting they lose most of their drama. Second, the darker colourways are excellent at hiding traffic marks, which is why we see them specified so often in commercial lobbies.

Specifying designer collections for hotels, villas and showrooms

Designer ranges reward planning more than ordinary papers do, because the repeats are larger and the batches are smaller. Before you commit:

  1. Confirm the repeat and the panel width early — murals in particular are sold as fixed panel sets, not as loose rolls, so the wall has to be measured before ordering rather than after.
  2. Order the whole quantity plus attic stock in a single batch. On a metallic or marbled design, a batch variation is unmissable.
  3. Check the wall build. A perfect mural on a wavy substrate is a wasted mural; specify a skim coat where necessary.
  4. Decide the joinery interfaces before ordering, so the mural’s focal point is not half-hidden behind a headboard or a wardrobe return.
  5. Allow for lead time on non-stocked colourways — stocked items move in three to seven days, but a specific designer colourway may need to be brought in.
  6. Get a physical sample in front of the client under the project’s own lighting before sign-off.

We hold exclusive distribution rights for our brands in the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, which means reordering mid-project stays with one supplier and one batch record. Bulk and trade enquiries from Saudi Arabia and India are welcome too, though availability varies by brand.

Installation: the part that protects the investment

A designer wall is the least forgiving thing in the room, and almost every failure we are called to inspect is an installation issue rather than a product one. The substrate must be dry, primed and flat. Panels must be laid out and dry-checked in sequence before any paste touches the wall — on a panoramic mural there is no second chance at panel three. The adhesive matters as much as the paper: we supply ACM adhesive from Italy for these ranges, because heavy non-woven and metallic surfaces need a paste with the right open time and grab, and a general-purpose adhesive is a false economy on a wall of this value. Finally, seams should be rolled, never scraped, so relief and metallic finishes are not crushed flat.

Seeing them in person

Designer collections photograph badly — gold reads yellow, relief reads flat, and a marbled panel loses half its depth on screen. The books tell a different story in the hand. Both our Deira, Dubai showroom and our Sharjah branch hold current designer sample books, and we can arrange project-specific sample sets for designers and contractors. Background information on the manufacturer behind several of these ranges is available from Zambaiti Parati.

Browse our wallcovering ranges online, look at the coordinating fabric collections and Adore LVT flooring if you are pulling a full scheme together, and contact us for current availability, trade pricing and bulk enquiries. If you are after a specific Elie Saab wallpaper design or a particular Lamborghini colourway, ask us directly — we will confirm what is in stock and what needs to be ordered in, and we have been doing this for designers and contractors across the region since 1974.
